Lesotho government appeals for SADC troops' continuation

Luanda, ANGOLA, September 24 - The government of Kingdom of Lesotho manifested interest in the continuation of the Southern African development Community (SADC) military mission in its territory to restructure the Defense and Security Forces of this country, said the Angolan Defense minister, Salviano Sequeira. ,

The Angolan official, who was speaking to Angop on Thursday at Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, said the government of Lesotho manifested the aforementioned desire, taking into account that the SADC military mission ends in November this year.  

 

In line with the request, added the minister, the issue is to be discussed by the SADC member countries, however, in case the extension of the period of stay of the mission is accepted, it will not be led by the Angolan military force.

 

In Lesotho, the Defense Minister representing the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Commander-in-Chief, João Lourenço, transferred the chairmanship of  SADC Military Mission to Zambia.
