Prime Minister of Lesotho arrives Sunday in Luanda

Maseru, ANGOLA, March 17 - Lesotho's Prime Minister Thomas Thabane travels to the Angolan capital Luanda on Sunday to inform the Head of State, João Lourenço, about the latest political developments in his country, it was learned on Saturday.,

The information was provided Friday in Maseru by Thabo Thakalekoala, head of the Prime Minister's press office, adding that the Lesotho delegation will include Foreign Minister Lesego Makgothi, Secretary of Government, Moahloli Mpaka and others senior officials.

According to the source, the Prime Minister will also inform João Lourenço, who is currently chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Policy, Defense and Security Body, on progress made so far in implementing reforms recommended by the regional organization with a view to achieving peace and stability in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The Kingdom of Lesotho is currently experiencing a deep political crisis, marked by the assassination of two Armed Forces chiefs in 2015 and 2017, prompting the country's authorities to call for SADC intervention, which has a 269-member personnel, including military, police, intelligence and civilians, within the framework of Southern African Prevention Mission in Lesotho (SAPMIL).

The Lesotho mission for peace and political stability is headed by Angola under the rotating presidency of the SADC Political, Defense and Security body.
