Music festival and historical aircraft found in Duncan, the Heart of the Chisholm Trail this October

Duncan to welcome musicians, history buffs, and hobbyists during the busy weekend of Oct 7-9, 2022

DUNCAN, Okla., Sept. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- October 7-9 will prove to be an eventful weekend in Duncan, the Heart of the Chisholm Trail, as the area welcomes the Freewheelin' Southwest Music Festival as well as the return of WWII aircraft during the CAF AirPower History Tour. From guitars and vintage cars to flights aboard history, there's certainly something for everyone this October in Duncan.

On Oct 7-9, Duncan will proudly welcome back the B-29/B-24 Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force as they host the CAF AirPower History Tour. This National Air Tour of Historic WWII Aircraft will take place at Halliburton Field Airport from Oct 7-9, 2022.

The attending aircraft will include the B-29 Superfortress FIFI, B-24 Liberator Diamond Lil, P-51 Mustang Gunfighter, and Air Force One L-26B Ike's Bird. Attendees can view, tour, and even fly in one of these spectacular aircraft. Fly times and tours vary throughout the weekend and reservations are required to fly.

While flights will require a reservation and must be made online, ramp access for tours and viewings can be purchased on the event day. Ramp access will be $20/Adult, $10/Child (age 11 thru 17), and free admission for children 10 & under. The price includes free B-29 & B-24 cockpit tours when the aircraft is available. Rider's admission is complimentary with proof of purchase. Attending aircraft subject to change due to weather or maintenance.

On Saturday, October 8, visitors and locals will find the Freewheelin' Southwest Music Festival at the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center. What started as a simple concert to showcase local musicians has morphed into a full day of activities including a car show, 8 live performances, food trucks, and fun for the kids.

The car and motorcycle show will kick off with registration beginning from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Winners will be announced between 4:00 PM-5:00 PM. At 12:00 PM, the live music will begin with Robert Aguire followed by Chasing the Sun, BJP Music, Whiskey Creek, Dylan Thompson, Drivin' South, Bret James and Tony Garrison. The evening will finish with the headliner, Old 81, performing at 8:00 PM. Food trucks will be on hand for all attendees with participating trucks by Bearfeathers BBQ, Big Belly Deli, and La Tapatia.

Tickets will be available at the gate for $10.00/adult. Children 12 or under will receive free admission.
