Postal Reform Act Garners Huge Support from Tea Party
More than 114,000 letters in support of HB 2309 were sent to Congress by concerned Tea Partiers
/EINPresswire.com/Washington, DC - August 15, 2011-- In just weeks, TheTeaParty.net members have sent more than 114,000 letters to the United States Congress in support of HB 2309, The Postal Reform Act. This legislation would begin to address the $8,500,000,000 2010 annual deficit of the United States Postal Service and avoid another multi-billion taxpayer-funded bailout.
HB 2309 was introduced by Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA-49) of the House Oversight Committee and Rep. Dennis Ross (R-FL) on June 29. Tea Party supporters from all over the country have united to keep their Representatives and Senators accountable for their actions on this and other agency reforms. Many constituents remind their Senators and Congressmen that every agency needs this kind of oversight.
As Citizens Against Government Waste's head, Tom Schatz, has stated, "Eventually, the USPS monopoly should be eliminated. Great Britain, Finland, New Zealand, and Sweden have eliminated their government monopoly on mail service, and Germany and Holland privatized their postal delivery services.
"Even after the 2010 elections, many legislators choose not to remember that American voters want reform. TheTeaParty.net members support Congressman Issa's bill and thank him for his courage. We look forward to getting this bill acted upon and becoming law soon," said Todd Cefaratti, founder.
