Roadmap signed on Gazprom’s participation in acquisition of Kyrgyzneftegaz property and assets

Release

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee, and Kubatbek Boronov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, signed today in Bishkek the Roadmap on the participation of Gazprom in the acquisition of the property and assets of Kyrgyzneftegaz.

The signing ceremony was attended by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The roadmap outlines the mutual obligations of the parties and a plan for further actions. In particular, it is planned to carry out an evaluation of the company and prepare a financial feasibility assessment of the deal.

Also today, a working meeting took place between Alexey Miller and Sooronbay Jeenbekov. The parties discussed ongoing issues and cooperation prospects. The Kyrgyz President praised Gazprom’s efforts in developing the country’s gas transmission system and expanding its gas grid coverage. It was noted that full-scale construction work of new inter-settlement and distribution pipelines is currently underway.

Another focus of the meeting was cooperation in the NGV sector. It was stressed that the wider use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel could improve environmental conditions in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Background

Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, is an exclusive importer of natural gas to Kyrgyzstan and the owner of the country's gas transmission and distribution systems.

Kyrgyzneftegaz carries out geological exploration, drills exploration and production wells, and operates oil and gas fields in Kyrgyzstan.

Under the General Scheme of Gas Supply to and Gas Infrastructure Expansion in the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030 developed by Gazprom, the Company undertakes large-scale efforts to renovate and upgrade gas transmission, underground gas storage and gas distribution facilities in Kyrgyzstan.

In 2013, the Russian and Kyrgyz Governments signed the Cooperation Agreement in the field of natural gas transmission, distribution and sales in the Kyrgyz Republic.
