Cuito, ANGOLA, September 18 - The Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, defended Monday in Cuito (Bié) that the development of the country involves the training of capable and competent human resources, combining high quality education with professional, entrepreneurship and salary valorization of non-graduate staff. ,

According to the Vice President of the Republic, these fundamental challenges for Angola's development must be resolved within the general framework of the country's financial constraints, in which technical, technological and vocational training must be prioritized.

The governor was speaking at the main event celebrating the Founder of the Nation and the National Hero Day, marked on Monday (September 17), representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço,

 

The National Hero’s Day celebrations took place under the motto: Freedom, Education and Development.

Regarding the policies that contribute to the development and improvement of the population life, Bornito de Sousa highlighted the benefits that will bring the National Development Plan (PND) 2018/2022.

He emphasized the  country’s actions concerning the development, peace-building, strengthening of the democratic and rule of law, good governance, harmonious development of the territory, ensuring stability and territorial integrity, and strengthening the country’s role in the international and regional context.

Bornito de Sousa also spoke of the political and generational changes taking place in Angola, noting that the world is following with care and admiration a peaceful, democratic and exemplary political transition with effects in the political, judicial, economic, social and diplomatic, in which President João Lourenço holds a central position.

The official reiterated the greater openness to the exercise of constitutional freedoms, including the freedom of the press, peaceful, legal and orderly exercise of the right to freedom of assembly and the prospect of enlargement of political participation to local authorities.

However, he denounced that the exercise of constitutional liberty is incompatible with certain practices that have been observed lately in the country, such as the destruction of public property, namely electric cables, solar panels, hospital and urban equipment, illegal occupation of unauthorized construction, aid to illegal immigration, illegal export of fuels, abusive use of the media and other practices prejudicial to the common good.

 

He defended the need to ensure projects in the field of infrastructure in areas such as health, education, communication and public transport, so that they do not regress.

 

In his speech, Bornito de Sousa highlighted the qualities of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, who dedicated his entire life to the cause of freedom and dignity of Angolans, national independence and international solidarity.

As a doctor, said Bornito de Sousa, Neto dedicated all his knowledge to health, reserving specific periods to serve free of charge to vulnerable patients.

As poetic, he pointed out that Agostinho Neto was a man of culture highlighting the collection of books and speeches and poetry among then the “Sagrada Esperança” e “Renúncia Impossível” ( Sacred Hope and Impossible Renunciation).

 

For the politician, Agostinho Neto, who was born 96 years ago, considered the most important " to solve the problems of the people", a celebrated slogan that remains at the present time.

As a statesman, the personality of Agostinho Neto was projected by the world and by the most important regional, national and international. But the greatest legacy of Augustine Neto to the Angolan People was the proclamation, on November 11, 1975, of National Independence, to which his appeal to national unity is intimately linked.

 

Attended the central act of the commemorations of the Founder's Day of the Nation and of the National Hero, the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, members of the Executive and deputies to the National Assembly, representatives of various religious denominations, traditional

authorities, among others.

 

António Agostinho Neto was a doctor, writer and politician.

 

He proclaimed Angola's independence on 11 November 1975 and subsequently became the first President of the Republic.

 

 Born on 17 September 1922 in Kaxikane (Icolo and Bengo), Agostinho Neto died on 10 September 1979, in Moscow, Russia.
