President of Republic back home

Luanda, ANGOLA, August 18 - The Angolan President, João Lourenço, returned to Luanda this Saturday from Windhoek, where he attended the 38th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of SADC held from 17 to 18 August.,

In order to welcome the Head of State, the Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, members of the Government and senior officials of the Presidency of the Republic traveled to the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.

In Windhoek, the SADC summit in its final communiqué called on member states to continue their efforts to implement the agenda for industrialization in the region, at a meeting marked by the hand over of the presidency to the head of State of Namibia, Hage Geingob, by then President of South Africa, Ciril Ramaphosa.

Also at the summit, João Lourenço, was greeted "for his excellent leadership for one year in conducting the SADC Policy, Defense and Security Cooperation Body" issues, having passed the presidency to his Zambian counterpart, Edgar Lungu .

Before leaving the Namibian capital, the Angolan statesman met with the President-elect of Zimbabwe, Emerson Mnangagwa, with whom he addressed issues of bilateral interest.

SADC was established on 17 August 1992 in Windhoek, Namibia, and aims, above all, to promote the economic and sustainable growth and development of the member states, alleviate poverty, increase the quality of life of the peoples of the region, and provide aid to the most disadvantaged people.
