Angola prepares operation to recover stolen vehicles

Luanda, ANGOLA, June 22 - Angolan Interior Minister Angelo da Veiga Tavares said on Friday that efforts were under way to recover vehicles stolen in Angola and hidden in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in an operation that has the support of the Congolese authorities.,

 

According to the Cabinet minister, who was speaking to Journalists on the sidelines meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ of Politics, Defense and Security of SADC, which is taking place in Luanda, car theft has been frequent.

"After taking measures to prohibit the circulation of such means, the situation tends to decrease," said the minister.

On drug trafficking in the region, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares said that every week there are arrests at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.

He reported that, in the context of international cooperation, a rather large seizure was made, but he did not disclose the number.

Ângelo da Veiga Tavares assured that the police authorities are following the strategy that is being used by the drug carriers, which includes changing the routes.
