TROVE Takes the Stage at Annual International Symposium on Forecasting

Chairs Session on “Integrated Energy Forecasting that Scales” with Avista and Navigant

BOULDER, Colo. and BUFFALO, N.Y., June 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TROVE, the predictive data science company, today announced it is presenting at the 38th annual International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF), an elite gathering of the world’s top forecasting thought leaders and practitioners, which will be taking place at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder.

The company is leading an Invited Session, “Integrated Energy Forecasting that Scales,” today at 11:20 a.m. It features three expert speakers: Dan Burgess, Senior Business Analyst, Avista Corp.; Ken Seiden, Managing Director, Navigant Consulting; and Jonathan Farland, Data Scientist, TROVE.

Burgess kicks off the discussion with a presentation on “Quantifying Forecast Variances of Updated Forecast Models,” which examines how updated hourly forecasts inform the way variances increase as forecast windows lengthen. Seiden follows with “Solving the Utility Load Forecasting Conundrum,” which explores how the role and methods of forecasting are changing in an era of distributed energy resources and the smart grid. Farland concludes the session with “Integrated Forecasting that Scales,” focusing on a breakthrough bottom-up forecasting methodology that enables distribution-grid operators to understand and manage loads across an increasingly complex topology of devices.

“At TROVE, we get to partner with some of the best people and companies in their respective industries to solve some of the most challenging problems. This often puts us in a unique position to unlock some of the most meaningful opportunities associated with data at scale,” said Jonathan Farland, Data Scientist and Science Squad member at TROVE. “That is certainly evidenced today by the important work of my co-presenters, and the successes we are driving together at the forefront of advanced forecasting methodologies and their application. It is a privilege to be able to highlight these accomplishments on the global stage ISF provides.”

TROVE’s ISF Invited Session follows on the heels of two key presentations the company delivered at the EEI Annual Convention, where Ted Schultz, CEO, spoke on Advanced Distributed Resource Planning and Adam Stotz, CTO, participated on a panel on Data Transformation. Among its recent successes in advanced forecasting, TROVE is generating hundreds of millions of micro-demand forecasts at the hourly level, daily, across individual households and structures for a California utility to help it meet energy demand more nimbly and economically, a central proof point of Farland’s ISF presentation.
