NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 21, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- New York, August 21, 2017 – The Center for Intellectual Property Understanding (CIPU) and the Michelson 20MM Foundation (Michelson 20MM), announced today that the organizations will work together to increase positive awareness of intellectual property rights and provide education and information to students and other audiences.

The partnership will include support for the first IP Awareness Summit, to be held in Chicago, November 6, by CIPU in collaboration with Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology. It also will include support for a course at the University of Southern California, “The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Intellectual Property,” which is the first course of its kind open to all undergraduate majors.

“CIPU is leading the way in promoting the importance of IP awareness and identifying ways of working together with businesses, organizations and universities to highlight how intellectual property impacts people,” said Phil Kim, President of the Michelson 20MM Foundation. “We look forward to collaborating with CIPU to improve awareness and lower the learning curve for IP rights among students and other audiences.”

Michelson 20MM has helped to establish the first college level IP course open to all undergraduate majors. The course, which starts August 21 at USC, features a list of esteemed guest speakers, including leading IP counsel from Intel, Nike and Medtronic, as well as a former chief judge of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The first class will feature introductory remarks by Marshall Phelps, CIPU Vice-Chairman and former VP of IP Strategy and Business at Microsoft and IBM.
