Slovenian national Joze Smit (aka Joza Smit and Joseph Smit) is wanted for child sex offences committed in Slovenia.

Smit, 58, was last seen in October 2018 in Essendon and police say he frequents businesses and establishments around the Mt Alexander Road and Lincoln Road area.

He is believed to have been living in Australia since April 2000, when his visa expired. An extradition warrant for his arrest was issued in July 2017.

Police are seeking public help to find him, especially from those who may be friends or family with information on his current location or recent images of him.

Smit is described as fair complexion, about 170cm tall, of stocky build, with balding dark hair and brown eyes.

The public is urged not to approach him because Smit is considered dangerous.
