Reveler steals baby Jesus statue from nativity scene in Mexico, poses with it during wild night of partying and leaves it damaged next to a pile of trash on Christmas Day

Residents in a Mexican town are pressuring local law enforcement authorities to act after a man stole a baby Jesus statue from a nativity scene and then took it partying.

The man, identified as Roger Acevedo Jr., grabbed the figurine from the public street display on Christmas night at about 6.40pm in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata. 

A witness said the group of friends had just walked out of a bar when they stumbled upon the nativity scene. 

Acevedo Jr. and his buddies snapped some photographs of themselves posing with the statue while partying.

The pictures were shared on their social media accounts before they were quickly erased.

Various Mexican news outlets reported that town locals were livid after seeing the images.

A recently closed Instagram account, belonging to user nataliaruedaaa, shared via Instagram Stories the moment the young man reached into the nativity set to remove the baby Jesus.

In another social media snap, Acevedo Jr. appears in the back seat of the back a vehicle with the statue laying next to him. A companion approves and flashes a peace sign with his fingers.

A photo caption refers to a video that shows the moment the doll was taken on Christmas Day. 

Acevedo Jr. continued his party spree and brought the doll to a get together.

He was pictured in a Facebook post reclining on a sofa next to the figure, which had a pair of sunglasses resting over its face.

Residents were furthermore incensed with his actions after the baby Jesus was found next to a garbage pile hours later with three fingers on the left hand completely chopped off.

Damage was also caused to the right hand and other parts of the statue 

According to Mexican news outlet Sin Embargo, neighbors visited the Attorney General's Office in the South-Central Mexican state of Morelos to file a report.

No arrests have been reported.
