HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad high court has directed the AP State home department’s principal secretary to forthwith constitute State Human Rights Commission in tune with the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 and also the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
A bench of Chief Justice TB Radhakrishnan and Justice SV Bhatt gave this direction while hearing a plea filed by Saipu Ramakrishna, who challenged the inaction of the state in this regard.
The bench too found the conduct of the AP objectionable in this regard, and said: “We are amazed to hear that no appointment is made to the AP SHRC. We do not know how the avowed objects of the Protection of Human Rights Act can be carried forward without the constitution of the SHRC.”
The bench found fault with the SHRC secretary who was passing orders in the absence of the SHRC.
