Scania West Africa Introduces New Truck Generation Range

Scania West Africa has launched its new truck generation range, representing the latest advancement in automotive technology for heavy-duty trucks.

Mr Fredrik Morsing, the Managing Director, Scania West Africa, speaking at the launch, said owners of the product would make the best out of their investments and improve sustainability and profit of businesses.

'We at Scania are driving the shift towards a more sustainable transport system and engaging in local initiatives. Along with our West Africa Training Academy partners,' he said.

'We provide apprentice programmes aimed at supplying the Ghanaian transport and logistics sector with skilled and qualified technicians and bus drivers'.

He said the new truck was suitable for the mining, construction and haulage sectors since they are robust and improves fuel efficiency by five per cent.

Mr Morsing said the aim of the company was to expand sales and service networks to be close to customers and providing support to improve their businesses, adding that, they would soon open a new workshop in Takoradi to support the transport system.

'Our expansion in the region continuous and have delivered over 400 vehicles to Nigeria, we have broken into the Ivorian market and are putting up a new structure together with our local partner and have been participating in large public transport projects in fast growing cities of the region'.

Mr Francois Lechat, the Sale Director, Scania West Africa, stated that 45 per cent of all fatal accidents were roll-over accidents, hence the reason Scania was the first in the industry to offer a side curtain airbag in addition to driver's airbag with seatbelt pre-tensioner to reduce the risk of injury.
