NEW DELHI: Premier travel and tourism exhibition SATTE 2019 will get 50 tourism boards including first time participants like Cyprus, Iceland, and Qatar, Yogesh Mudras managing director of event organiser UBM India told ET.

UBM India said SATTE will provide a comprehensive platform to domestic and international buyers and professionals from across the travel, tourism and hospitality industry along with National and State Tourism Boards (NTOs and STOs) to congregate and conduct business, arrive at solution-driven innovations to counteract economic uncertainties and promote inbound, outbound and domestic tourism in India.

This year, the event witnessed participation from over 1000 exhibitors.

"Domestic tourism is growing by about 20%. I see robust future for the travel sector and participation for SATTE is growing from strength to strength. Our footfalls in 2018 were 35% more than 2017. This is a B2B show. The sector is getting more organised," Mudras said.

Mudras said quite a few countries are looking at expanding their spaces for SATTE 2019 and individual states are coming in to promote themselves besides the participation of countries.

"The existing ones like Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are increasing their spaces as they see more buoyancy in Indian tourists going abroad. The US and Russia are participating countries but individual states and cities like Florida,Vegas and St Petersburg are coming in. Dubai Sharjah Abu Dhabi are coming seperately and promoting themselves in a bigger way. Countries like Indonesia are promoting other destinations beyond Bali and Indonesia," he added.

Turkey has been SATTE's biggest exhibitor till date and countries are focusing on multiple segments keeping in mind the varied Indian travellers, Mudras said.

"Dubai is going to showcase an international water sports tournament happening there. Exhibitors are focusing on multiple segments. Earlier it was about general tourists but now some of them like Mauritius and Turkey are focusing on wedding tourism. SATTE 2019 will have sessions on cruise shipping, MICE and corporate travel," he added.
