NJ football: Top moments from across New Jersey in Week 7

The 2018 high school football season continued with a loaded Week 7 schedule across New Jersey.

Here were some of the highlights from the across the state:

Don Bosco knocks off No. 2 DePaul

Don Bosco earned its biggest win since former Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel took over as coach before the 2017 season.

The Ironmen knocked off DePaul, which entered the game ranked No. 2 in the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey Top 20, on Friday night.

Kyle Monangai had a career-high 287 yards rushing on 19 carries with five touchdowns and Jalen Berger added 21 carries for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the Ironmen overcame a 21-17 third quarter deficit with 42 second-half points, including the final 28 of the game.

RBC beats Rumson-Fair Haven in a thriller

Jaden Key blocked a potential game-tying extra point with 2:50 left, and quarterback Steve Lubischer threw first half touchdown passes to M.J. Wright and Sean Rossback as Red Bank Catholic recorded a frantic 14-13 win over host Rumson-Fair Haven before a standing-room only crowd at Borden Stadium.

Red Bank Catholic is ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey Top 20 and Rumson-Fair Haven is 14th statewide. 

Paramus stays undefeated

Paramus, which had never been undefeated past Week 4 prior to this season, is now 8-0 after beating River Dell 20-13 on Friday night.

The Spartans' unprecedented success has raised spirits around town following the school bus crash that killed a teacher and a fifth-grade student in May.

Paramus had been eliminated from the playoffs by River Dell the last two years.

NJIC final pits Rutherford against Hasbrouck Heights

For the second year in a row, Rutherford will face Hasbrouck Heights for the NJIC title.

Rutherford, led by a five-touchdown performance by Johnny Mendez, beat New Milford 41-14.

Hasbrouck Heights, which will host the title game, is back in the final for the third year in a row after beating Park Ridge 30-14.

Rutherford won last year's game, 14-7, in overtime.

Piscataway bests Sayreville in battle of state powers

Juwon Jackson rushed 19 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns and the ferocious Piscataway defense delivered two scores with a pair of pick sixes as the undefeated Chiefs (7-0), ranked seventh in the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey Top 20, handed ninth-ranked Sayreville (6-1) its first loss, a 27-6 setback on Friday night.

South Jersey's top performances

►Aidan Borguet, Delsea. The senior went over 200 yards rushing for the second consecutive week, piling up 226 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-16 triumph over Cedar Creek.

►Wade Inge, Williamstown. The senior halfback ran for a career-high 205 yards, including 184 and three touchdowns in the opening half, as the Braves handed Shawnee 48-14.

►E’lijah Gray, Holy Spirit. The junior ran for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the second half to spur the Spartans to a 28-7 win over Kingsway and a West Jersey Football League United Division title. Gray also threw for a score in the fourth quarter.

►Tex Thompson, Millville. The senior rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns as the Thunderbolts captured their fifth straight win, a 50-0 shutout of Atlantic City. Thompson had a fumble recovery as well.

►Joe LeVach, Florence. The senior produced a career-high 141 rushing yards on just 11 attempts and also scored two touchdowns, both in the second quarter, in a 28-18 win over Burlington City.

►Byron Spellman, Buena. The junior intercepted two passes, including the game-ender, as the Chiefs stayed unbeaten with a 19-13 upset of Pleasantville.

►Rashad Raymond, Cinnaminson. The senior rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 37-yard TD pass as the Pirates downed Ewing 28-13.

►Amir Stevenson, Northern Burlington. The junior matched a career-high with 175 rushing yards, as well as two touchdowns, as the Greyhounds ended Delran’s undefeated season with a 28-7 triumph.

►Matt Goetz, Gateway. The senior quarterback was an efficient 9-of-12 passing for 150 yards and three touchdowns as the Gators topped Haddon Heights 48-6. Goetz also had an interception on defense.

►Andrew Paolini, Holy Cross. The senior signal caller threw five touchdown passes as the Lancers topped Palmyra 56-20.

►Trey Sayers, Oakcrest. The senior QB threw for 198 yards and a game-tying, fourth quarter touchdown as the Falcons prevailed against Ocean City 20-14 in overtime.

►Jamael Bundy, Salem. The senior quarterback did it all in a 44-3 win over Pennsville. He threw for 115 yards and two TDs, ran for 160 more and two touchdowns and had an interception on defense.

►Hunter Logan, Clearview. The junior kicker booted a game-winning field goal in double overtime as the Pioneers took down Winslow 20-17.

►Travis Laster, Seneca. The junior running back rushed for 122 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner with a minute left in regulation, as the Golden Eagles beat Triton 28-21.
