Glance at that stats and it's hard to argue with those who say Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time.

But there are plenty who don't even rate the New England Patriots star as the best playing currently.

For many, that accolade goes to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

However, former Patriots linebacker Tedy Brushi has explained why Rodgers will never match the success tasted by five-time Super Bowl champion Brady.

At 41, Brady is showing no signs of being in decline, performing to an elite standard almost every time he goes out on to the pitch.

Bruschi believes his unique style will allow him to perform at the very top level for several more years - something he doesn't think 34-year-old Rodgers will be able to achieve.

Speaking to WEEI's Ordway, Merloni and Fauria, he said: “Tom’s changing the thinking of how you look at a quarterback position, the new age for the quarterback position, the longevity of a quarterback.

"Realising that not only if you take care of yourself in terms of the physical aspect of it, the NFL is also telling you, yes we do want good quarterback play and we want you to last as long as you possibly can.

"So with the game knowing that knowledge and the physical preparation, he’s going to continue to play well but people see that and they want the new kid on the block and it’s just not going to be that way because of the way Tom Brady plays, the way the New England Patriots have their system and how it’s successful in terms of all of those aspects offensively.

"People just have to get used to it, it’s not going anywhere.”

Acknowledging Rodgers is a "great player", he suggested his game was flawed slightly in comparison to Brady's.

He added: “His style, it isn’t as lasting in my opinion. He relies on his athletic ability to get out of the pocket.

"Which one thing, as you get older, you lose that ability. The next thing you feel like you can get out of trouble and try to extend plays a little bit longer than maybe they should and then you get hit, you get injuries.

"Guys can get shots on you, you start to feel that a bit more so the traditional way that Tom Brady plays the game is they way the game wants you to play it because once you become that scrambling quarterback, you’re more vulnerable to defenders.

"Brady keeps himself out of those dangerous situations and Rodgers is in them multiple times a game.”

When asked about those who dismiss Brady's achievements, he suggested they were merely "tired of seeing greatness for so long".
