Gone are the days of boring international friendlies as the top European teams now have a new trophy to play for.

The current international break has thrown up a few European classics this week with England's win in Spain being the pick of the bunch.

Both sides went all out for the win during the five-goal thriller in Seville with the Three Lions picking up a crucial three points to reduce Spain's lead at the top of Group 4 in League A.

England will now have something to play for when they face Croatia at Wembley in a month's time as Gareth Southgate's men will be hoping to top their group.

The winner of each group in League A will be able to compete for the inaugural Nations League next summer while the bottom side of the three-team groups will be relegated to League B.

France, Portugal, Belgium and Spain are the current leaders of the four respective League A groups with the four nations due to take part in a semi-final for the Nations League next summer if they are still top after the November international break.

Germany, Poland and Croatia are in danger of dropping down to League B as they are third in their groups while Iceland's relegation has already been confirmed.

England against Spain was not the only game to get fans off of their seats as France's comeback win over Germany was also a thrilling watch.

The world champions staged a second-half comeback to pile further pressure on Germany boss Joachim Low with Antoine Griezmann scoring twice for Les Bleus.

Germany's defeat came after they were embarrassingly beaten 3-0 by rivals Holland.

Holland embarrassed Germany last week by beating their long-time rivals 3-0 in Amsterdam

The loss would not have had the same impact if it was a friendly but the fact it was a competitive match has meant the German FA will now weigh up Low's future.

League B has also been worth keeping a close eye on after Wales and the Republic of Ireland were pitted in the same group.

Wales have the bragging rights over Ireland as Ryan Giggs' men have beaten Ireland twice during the last month.

The first game saw Wales beat Ireland 4-1 in Cardiff while Harry Wilson's free-kick on Tuesday night saw his side defeat Martin O'Neill's men 1-0 in Dublin.
