Belgium scandal agent involved in Onyekuru deals

Belgium scandal agent involved in Onyekuru deals

MOGI Bayat — the agent at the centre of Belgium’s football scandal — was involved in THREE deals with Everton for the same player, The Sun reports.

The Iranian helped Goodison owner FarhadMoshiri bring in Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru and then loan him out to Belgian side Anderlecht as well as Turkish club Galatasaray.

Bayat was arrested by police who have been carrying out an investigation called Clean Hands, looking into money laundering, hidden payments in transfers and possible match-fixing in Belgium.

The scandal has not reached these shores yet but we can reveal Bayat was part of a series of deals for  mystery man Onyekuru, who has yet to kick a ball on Merseyside.

Everton paid around £8million to Belgian side Eupen for him in the summer of 2017 and immediately loaned him to Anderlecht for a year.

Bayat was involved in selling  Onyekuru for Eupen, the small club owned by Qatar-based agency Aspire.

The wheeler dealer was given an exclusive mandate to move him and earned a large fee from Eupen for his part in the transfer.

Everton also paid agent William D’AvilaDabela £500,000 for working for them on the deal although that payment is being disputed by a rival in a case that the FA will hear shortly.

Moshiri was also central to the  Onyekuru transfer.

He met Belgian agent Christophe Henrottay in Monaco to discuss another player when the forward’s name was recommended.

Then Bayat became involved, working at the Eupen end of the transfer and getting the best price possible for them.

Bayat was present in Liverpool when the transfer was finalised. Immediately Onyekuru was sent back to Belgium to join Anderlecht for a year.

Then, in the last window, Bayat took Onyekuru to Turkish side Galatasaray.

Everton received a loan fee of £1m plus extras for the season.

So Bayat had worked for Belgian side Eupen and then Everton in quick succession, making hefty commissions in the process.

Bayat is rated the top agent in  Belgian football and has had a hand in a couple of other Premier League moves.
