Susanville bank robbery suspect in custody after highway pursuit through Nevada/California

The situation began when officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to a bank robbery at a US Bank located at the 900 block of Main Street. on Friday, Aug. 10.

The teller complied with the suspect's demand and he managed to get away before police was called, according to Susanville Police Department.

Lassen County Dispatch notified police that the suspect, a white male, fled with a white Ford truck.

The pursuit continued on southbound U.S. 395 south of Church Street. Portola CHP units deployed a spike strip on on U.S. 395, south of Red Rock Rd., but the suspect continued on to the Nevada/California border.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Ralph Caldwell, Susanville CHP requested assistance by the Washoe County because the driver was entering Washoe County jurisdiction.

The driver caused multiple crashes, according to NHP trooper Matt McLaughlin.

According to officials, they attempted multiple tactics to stop the car, but eventually had to use "legal intervention" to help stop the pursuit.

After the suspect's car came to a stop, the suspect tried to run away, but was caught by officials and taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old, Noah David Bodwell from Sacramento, California.

The car pursuit sparked a small brush fire near Vassar St. and Market St. according to the Reno Fire Department.
