Police in two southern Brevard County cities were investigating a series of burglaries reported early Thursday.

About 3:30 a.m., Palm Bay police went to the Remedy Pawn shop in the 100 block of Malabar Road and Boost Mobil in the 6000 block of Babcock Street. Bricks had been thrown through windows at both businesses, which are in separate areas of the city, police said.

Officers also found an attempted burglary at R&S Soft Water Services in the 4500 block of Babcock, said police spokesman Lt. Steve Bland. Someone had tried, but failed, to break through a window there, Bland said. The window was damaged.

West Melbourne police were also investigating one business burglary, plus several places where someone attempted to break in, said police Sgt. Michelle Page. An unknown amount of cash was stolen from Sports Clip in the 4300 block of Norfolk Parkway about 3:30 a.m., she said.

Authorities haven't confirmed a connection between the burglaries.
