Child among 3 killed in East Palatka wreck, FHP says

Five others injured, identities not released

PUTNAM CO., Fla. – A child and two adults were killed in a wreck on South U.S. Highway 17 near State Road 207 in East Palatka Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a blue Kia was driving North on U.S. 17 and a White GMC Yukon was driving South, just before 6:30 p.m.

The driver of the Kia lost control and steered into the path of the Yukon. Three of the five people, including a child, in the Kia were killed in the crash. Three people in the Yukon were also injured.

FHP has not released the names of any of the victims, pending next of kin notification. It's unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
