The formerly out of favour clothing brand American Apparel is set to return to the UK at the end of this month.

Two years after going into administration, the company, now under new ownership, has confirmed it will launch an online store opening 23rd April.

The brand, known for its body suits, vintage-style denim and preppy tracksuits, famously lost sales after releasing a series of campaigns featuring young female models that were deemed to be inappropriately sexualised.

Now owned by Gildan Activewear, the label has launched a new campaign, which aims to still be 'sexy, without exploiting women'.

"Women feel so conflicted about being sexual right now, but we're taking a position to still be sexy, unapologetically so, but from an empowered female perspective," says Sabina Weber, Director of Brand Marketing at Gildan Activewear.

In terms of the design direction of the label, it appears the clothing styles remain relatively unchanged. You can see the new campaign images and collection on the American Apparel Instagram account.
