Man kidnaps teacher, sexually assaults her in Dubai desert

A man, who allegedly kidnapped a teacher, took her to a desert in Dubai and sexually assaulted her in his car, stood trial on Tuesday.
The Dubai Court of First Instance was told that the 29-year-old Pakistani salesman had been drinking alcohol with his friend, a teacher from Belarus, and later drove her back to her flat.
However, he suddenly took a turn to a remote area in the desert. He forced himself on her after threatening to hurt her. He also threatened that he would drop her to a construction site, where many workers would gang-rape her.
He denied in court charges of kidnap, sexual assault and making criminal threats and blackmail.
The incident was reported to Al Rashidiyah police station on February 1.
The complainant, 32, said the defendant had picked her up in his car and took her to a nightclub, where they had alcohol together. She asked him later to drop her to her place in Port Saeed, but on the way they had a quarrel about her dancing with other men. "I realised then that he had stopped at a dark desert location. He told me he wanted to have sex with me."
She said he then sexually assaulted her in the front seat.
On the highway, she told him she would jump out of the moving car if he did not let her go. She hailed a cab and went to the police station. She later got a medical report detailing her injuries.
A police officer instructed her to keep in touch with the accused. "I asked him (the accused) to bring me a bracelet I had dropped in his car to my flat. The police caught him when he came."
The Egyptian taxi driver, 39, who took the teacher to the police station, said he had stopped for her on a road towards Al Manama Street. "She was screaming hysterically and wanted me to call the police. The man, who had just dropped her, fled the place when he heard her calling the police."
The cabbie told the prosecutor that the woman's clothes were torn and she had a black eye. 
The defendant's DNA traces were detected on the complainant's body and dress she wore on the night of incident.
The next hearing will be held on April 29.
