Couple found dead in Seguin; neighbor charged in slayings

Guns, suspected homemade explosive devices found

SEGUIN, Texas – A Guadalupe County man is charged in the Thursday night shooting deaths of his neighbors.

Brian Day, 40, shared a fence line with Thomas, 29, and Jenita Holland, 27, said Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office Lt. Clint Garza. The married couple was found dead, apparently shot to death, just inside Day's side of the fence when GCSO Deputies responded to a 911 call near the 2100 block of Vivroux Ranch Road at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Day was charged with capital murder of multiple persons and remains in the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bond.

As investigators searched properties belonging to both Day and the Hollands, they found several guns and what they believed to be "homemade explosive devices" at Day's home.

Agents with the FBI and ATF, the San Antonio Police Bomb Squad, the Guadalupe County Fire Marshal and the Seguin Fire Department were all on scene to help process evidence, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. There were several controlled detonations in the area as part of that process.

"We found items that look suspicious," said Lt. Garza. "We have to go through that. We have to get them up here to clear the scene so we can continue to do our job and process whatever evidence we have and make sure we're safe and we don't get any of our officers hurt or get anybody else hurt that's out here."

It was unclear what the motive may have been for the shooting, or what led up to the Hollands' final moments.

Garza said there were some witnesses who were present.

A neighbor, Teresa Baker, said she heard multiple gunshots on Thursday night, and later on heard a voice over a loudspeaker asking someone to come out of a house.

The sheriff's office said the case is still under investigation.
