A reserve officer with the Lawrence Police Department was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated after she was found asleep at the wheel of a car, carrying a police badge early Thursday morning.

Diane Morris-Mack, 44, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Thursday after a Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy found her asleep in the driver's side of a Honda Pilot parked on the side of a road near Cumberland Road and 96th Street, according to a news release.

A breath test revealed her breath alcohol content was 0.155, according to the release. The limit at which a person is considered legally drunk in Indiana is 0.08.

Lawrence Police confirmed Morris-Mack has been a reserve officer with the department for nearly a year. She has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Morris-Mack is also Indiana University's director of emergency management and continuity, a university spokesperson said Thursday. She has been suspended without pay until further notice, pending further investigation.

Morris-Mack is IU's first system-wide director of emergency management and continuity, according to a 2010 news release from the University. She previously served as planning branch chief for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and assistant director of homeland security for the Indiana Counter-Terrorism and Security Council.

Morris-Mack was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC greater than 0.15. She is expected to make an initial court appearance on Nov. 1.
