A 44-year-old woman was airlifted to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Wednesday after an ATV crash northeast of Cheyenne.

Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell says it happened around 11 a.m. in the 1600 block of County Road 136.

Gesell says the woman was driving a 4-wheeler with her 2-year-old son on the front when she stalled on a hill and the ATV flipped over backwards on them.

"She seemed to take the brunt of it," said Gesell.  "She's still in the hospital, but I don't know the extent of her injuries."

Gesell says the boy's family took him to CRMC, but he had "no apparent threatening injuries."

She says the two were visiting from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and neither one was wearing a helmet.
