IDAHO FALLS — Two men were arrested on felony strangulation charges Saturday following unrelated incidents of alleged domestic violence.

Larry J. Keller

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says Larry J. Keller, 37, of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on felony attempted strangulation and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer charges following a domestic dispute.

Police reports show deputies responded to the 700 block of Eve Drive around 7 p.m. Friday, due to a fight between a man and a woman. Deputies spoke with the 36-year-old woman who had called police about Keller. The woman told deputies Keller had his hands around her neck and had choked her until she was eventually able to push him away. He then ran away.

The woman also told deputies Keller had a knife and had cut himself. The female victim showed signs of injury to her neck but refused medical treatment at that time, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Later that evening, deputies learned Keller was at a residence on Natalie Street. When deputies arrived, Keller ran out of the home and attempted to get away through the backyard. Bonneville County Sheriff Sgt. Bryan Lovell said Keller then stopped briefly and held a knife to his neck in an attempt to keep the deputies at bay.

Deputies deployed a Taser after he started cutting his neck, the sheriff’s office said. After a brief struggle on the ground, deputies were able to take him into custody.

Due to the significant injury on his neck, Keller required surgery and was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was arrested Saturday after being discharged from the hospital.

Keller is scheduled to appear in court Monday. No bond has been set.

Jordan R. Haack

Bonneville County sheriff’s deputies also arrested 27-year-old Jordan R. Haack of Idaho Falls on Saturday following a domestic disturbance.

Police reports show at about 2:35 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a residence on the 800 block of Maurine Drive. When deputies arrived at the scene they were told a man had been drinking earlier in the evening and began to argue, which resulted in multiple broken items inside the residence, according to a news release.

The woman said Haack had hit her in the chest and face and put his hands around her throat choking her, Lovell said. The woman was able to momentarily break away to call 911 and wait for deputies to arrive.

Deputies observed injuries and bleeding from the woman’s eye and were able to have her checked out by Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel.

Haack was taken into custody and booked into the Bonneville County Jail on felony attempted strangulation and misdemeanor domestic battery.

He is expected to appear in court Monday. No bond has been set.
