HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 36-year-old man charged in the attack of a Honolulu police officer on Sunday appeared in court this week.

On Tuesday, he stood shirtless before a judge. His bail was set at $50,000

Police records show Guyton was taken into custody Sunday afternoon in the First Hawaiian Bank parking lot off Kapiolani Boulevard.

Officials said Guyton used a dangerous instrument to assault a police officer who was responding to an incident. In the process, Guyton then tried to take the officer’s gun.

The officer was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released.

Guyton is scheduled to be back in court in Thursday for his arraignment and plea.
