A Southwest Airlines flight to Fort Myers, Florida, returned to Pittsburgh shortly after takeoff because of a bird strike, the airline said Wednesday.Flight 1486 landed safely at Pittsburgh International Airport, where it will be removed from service and inspected, Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz said."Some people thought they heard a boom," passenger Derek Ellis of Lawrenceville said. Ellis tweeted a photo of a hole in the aircraft's rear wing.“It was probably about 20 minutes out, 20 minutes back I would say," Ellis added. "Landed, and then... they came on pretty immediately and said that actually, we hit a flock of geese coming up through at some point, and one of the geese had potentially damaged one of the wings."The passengers and crew members eventually boarded a different plane to Fort Myers.
