Almost two-thirds say Trump has not been truthful about Russia investigation: poll

More than six in 10 Americans in a new poll — 62 percent — say President Trump has not been truthful about the investigation into Russian election interference and possible collusion between his campaign and Moscow.

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released early Sunday showed a partisan split, with 94 percent of Democratic respondents saying they disagree that Trump has been honest and truthful about the probe, compared to 64 percent of independents and 24 percent of Republicans.

In August, 56 percent of registered voters polled said they agreed Trump had been honest and truthful, while 38 percent disagreed, NBC News noted.

Half of the respondents in the new poll also said the Russia investigation has given them “major,” “fairly major” or “just some” doubts about Trump’s presidency, compared to 44 percent who say it has not.

The poll of 900 adults, conducted December 9-12, has a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
