Pope Francis became Estonian e-resident, A Medium corporation reported. 

“His Holiness Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic Church and Head of State of Vatican City, has become the newest e-resident of Estonia. His Holiness was presented with his own digital ID card today in Tallinn by Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid,” the statement said.

According to the statement, Pope Francis Francis became the 37 647th e-resident of Estonia.

"His Holiness is the first Head of State to receive e-Residency, although other Heads of Government to receive e-Residency are Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Luxembourgish Prime Minister Xavier Bettel," the statement added.

Estonia was the first in the world to create an e-residence program, which allows its foreign participants to use almost the entire range of online services of the state.

Pope Francis arrived on a Tuesday visit to Tallinn. His 25th apostolic trip to the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the first declaration of independence in all three republics.
