The BJP government in Haryana lost its majority when three independent MLAs withdrew their support. Jannayak Janta Party JJP leader Dushyant Chautala said that if the Leader of Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, puts forward a no-confidence motion, his party will vote against the Nayab Singh Saini-led government.
In the latest update, Dushyant Chautala has written to the Governor, asking for a floor test in the state assembly. This comes as political turmoil ensues following three independent MLAs withdrawing support from the ruling BJP.
He also revealed that President’s Rule shall be implemented by the Governor in Haryana if the state government doesn’t have the majority.
Let’s here out from Chautala himself, what he has to say…
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini says his government is doing just fine, no problems. His party buddy, ex-Chief Minister M L Khattar, also says lots of lawmakers are talking to the BJP, and they’re not worried at all.
Saini told reporters that “The government is not in any trouble, it is working strongly
The government in Haryana is currently in a minority because they don’t have enough members in the assembly. However, it doesn’t mean the government will collapse. The BJP has 40 MLAs, Congress has 30, and JJP has 10 in the House.
Right now, there’s no immediate threat to the government in Haryana. The Chief Minister, Saini, took office on March 12 this year after passing a floor test in the assembly. According to the rules, there must be a gap of 6 months between two floor tests. So, the Opposition can’t bring a no-confidence motion until September 2024. Also, assembly elections are scheduled for October-November this year. This means the BJP government in the state is secure for now.
