WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly shooting a man in a West Haven apartment.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Adam Keit, who already had two outstanding arrest warrants from Bridgeport police and West Haven police.

Police responded at 9:31 a.m. to a report of a person being shot in an apartment on Coleman Street. Officers located a gunshot victim and spoke with an elderly woman who said that the victim and his brother were involved in an altercation.

The woman said she heard a gunshot and then both men left the apartment.

Yale New Haven Hospital told police that a gunshot victim was dropped off at the emergency room. Hospital personnel said that a black Volkswagen dropped off the victim and fled the scene.

West Haven police searched Keit’s car and found a Glock .357 caliber handgun that officers believe was used in the shooting. They also found an assault rifle and many rounds of ammunition in Keit’s apartment.

Keit was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of an assault weapon, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.

The 47-year-old was held on a $750,000 bond and was arraigned in Milford court.
