Cape Cod has the country’s No. 1 bed & breakfast, according to Tripadvisor users

The Brewster B&B was also named among the best in the world.

A historic bed & breakfast on Cape Cod is still the best in America, according to Tripadvisor users.

The Needham-based travel site released a list of the top 25 B&Bs and inns in the U.S. on Tuesday as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards for Hotels. Candleberry Inn on Cape Cod in Brewster ranked No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 7 in the world.

Visitors at the nine-room Candleberry Inn on Cape Cod, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, stay in a the Georgian Federal-style Main House or Carriage House and some rooms include fireplaces, patios, and soaking tubs. The property sits on two acres of manicured grounds with views of Cape Cod Bay. The inn is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops, and art galleries.

Guests enjoy a daily multi-course gourmet breakfast in the B&B’s historic 1790’s dining room or on the garden patio. Breakfast includes a plated fresh fruit course followed by a hot main course of items such as apple-blueberry pancakes, challah French toast, and recipes inspired by the Italian mothers of the owners, such as zucchini frittata and patate rustiche.

“At Candleberry Inn, it is our goal to delight and surprise you during your Cape Cod getaway,” owners Marco and Angelo wrote on the B&Bs website. “It’s what’s at the top of our minds as we plan meals, appoint rooms, and provide for all of your Cape Cod wishes while you stay with us. Hospitality and service are what we truly love most about being innkeepers.”

The Candleberry Inn is no stranger to accolades. Last year, the getaway was named No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 5 in the world. In 2022, it was named No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 2 in the world.

Six other New England getaways made the list of best B&Bs in the U.S.: The Trellis House in Ogunquit, Maine, ranked No. 5; the Captain David Kelley House in Centerville ranked No. 6; the Camden Windward House in Camden, Maine, ranked No. 9; the Camden Main Stay Inn in Camden, Maine ranked No. 20; Blue Shutters Inn and Studios in Ogunquit, Maine, ranked No. 21; and the Almondy Inn in Newport, R.I., ranked No. 22.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards for Hotels were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor from Jan. 1, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2023.
