Yankuba Minteh's impressive season with Dutch giants Feyenoord continued after winning his first major silverware with the club on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Despite getting sent off for picking two yellow cards, a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen saw the Rotterdam outfit win their 14th KNVB Cup.

Igor Paixao netted the only goal of the game on the hour mark before Feyenoord were reduced to 10 men 12 minutes later.

The Gambian forward has been a key figure since joining the club on loan from Newcastle United last summer.

His performances have seen him ranked the 21st-best young player in the world, according to the 2024 Golden Boy ranking.

Minteh has scored 10 goals across all competitions and provided four assists as Feyenoord inch closer to Champions League football again next season.

“Things are going well with Feyenoord. I am developing myself here. You look at the bigger picture. I am young and I am here to learn. Sometimes my decisions [on the pitch] were terrible [earlier this season with Feyenoord] but you learn quickly," he told Algameen Dagblad.

The Gambian international is expected to return to Newcastle United in the summer at the end of his loan spell.

“I can’t say anything about my future [for next season] yet," he continued. “We will see what Newcastle United, where I’m under contract, will decide.
“However, another year at De Kuip [with Feyenoord], I wouldn’t mind that of course.”

Minteh joined the Magpies from Danish outfit Odense BK on July 1, 2023, per Transfermarkt.

Minteh makes top 100 Golden Boy list

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Gambian forward, Yankubah Minteh, is among nine African players who have made the top 100 list for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

The Newcastle-owner Feyenoord star is joined by Brighton-bound Ibrahim Osman, Bilal El Khannous and Karim Konate of Ivory Coast on the list.

Minteh is the second highest-ranked African player on the list, placing 21st overall.
