HOW IT HAPPENED
The Redbirds took the early lead in the first inning. Delainey Bryant led off the game with a bloop single over the head of the third baseman to get on base. Abby Knight worked a single to put two runners on base, before Jayden Standish drove in Bryant on an RBI double off the wall in right field.
In the top of the third, Standish produced another extra base hit, a triple off the wall once again. A batter later, Adisyn Hopkins dropped in an RBI single to bring home pinch-runner Hanna Hicks. With two outs on the board, Addison Masching singled to drive in Hopkins to put the 'Birds up by three.
The Sycamores battled back, plating two runs on a home run, but Addison Masching put the deficit back up to two runs after her first-career home run went over the right field wall.
The combination of Hannah Meshnick and Paige McLeod held on to earn the victory in game three and the series win over Indiana State.
