In the Onion City, Winooski Organics unveiled a mural and the finishing touch of their store.

Saturday was 4/20 and people all across our region were celebrating the unofficial holiday of marijuana.In the Onion City, Winooski Organics unveiled a mural and the finishing touch of their store. "We’ve been refurbishing (the storefront) for five years now and wanted to keep the mural they had up there, and we refurbished and made something new out of it," said Eddie Furci, an owner of Winooski Organics Winooski Organics was one of the first dispensaries to open when the recreational market became legal in October 2022. It’s now the second 4/20 since the legalization, which businesses said brought higher than normal numbers last year and hoped for the same Saturday. "4/20 was our busiest day foot traffic-wise last year, so we’re expecting it to be similar," Furci said. The Bern Gallery in Burlington was also slammed on Saturday, celebrating its 20th anniversary and giving free glass-blowing lessons throughout the day. They’ve been a 4/20 accessory staple for years in the Queen City and say it’s really cool to see the evolution of the cannabis industry over the past decade. "This degenerative art form has really grown over the years, and legalization has helped you can go into a dispensary and see pipes everywhere," said Jeff White, a part owner of The Bern Gallery. Magic Mann in Essex also celebrated its five-year anniversary this 4/20 and hosted a 4/20 fest, during which you could shop at their store and meet local growers. "Today we we’re probably doubled what we were last year last year. This morning I had people stacked three deep in the store on all five registers, so it was brilliant," said Laura Gould, a budtender at Magic Mann.
