Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged on Friday that India’s oldest national party — Congress — was the root of all problems the country faced and that the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party only worsened the crisis.

Addressing an election meeting at Shikarpur town in the Bulandshahr Lok Sabha constituency, the CM said, “Is baar ke chunav mein SP, BSP aur Congress ko ek ek vote ke liye tarsa do (This election, make the SP, BSP and the Congress cry out for every single vote.

“They had given us Article 370 in J&K but we came up with the solution and abrogated the law. The Congress engineered riots in Moradabad in 1980 and hid the inquiry committee report but we reopened the file after 40 years and took action against those involved,” the CM said.

Later, in a rally at Modinagar in the Baghpat constituency, Adityanath said the bugle for the grandest festival of democracy has been blown with the first phase of polling being conducted on Friday. “Heavy voting was reported in a number of constituencies and this is an indication of the eagerness of people to bring the Narendra Modi-led BJP to power for the third consecutive term,” he said.

Rajkumar Sangwan of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), a BJP ally in the parliamentary elections, is contesting from the Baghpat seat.

The Chief Minister further said that while giving solutions to the problems faced by the country is the responsibility of the Modi-led double engine government at the Centre and in the state, casting of vote is the responsibility of people to ensure that the BJP and the Rashtriya Lok Dal win with a large margin.

“In 1947, Pakistan got a larger geographical area and lesser population as compared to Bharat. While 23 crore people in the neighbouring country have no food to eat, 80 crore people in our country are getting free ration. Also, 4 crore poor people got houses without paying anything, 2.5 crore got free electricity and many benefited from various other schemes implemented by our Prime Minister,” he claimed.

Before the BJP formed government in the state in 2017, Uttar Pradesh had become a place where there were curfews on every second or third day and frequent riots had made the day-to-day life of people difficult, he alleged.

“But since 2017, curfews and riots have come to an end and kanwar yatras are taken out with fanfare every year,” the CM pointed out.
A bomb blast is not only met with the elimination of those committing such an act but also the masterminds of the incident sitting in Pakistan face the consequences these days, he asserted.

The criminals who used to steal farmers’ tubewells from the fields or harassed traders and women in the previous governments are now either in jail or have been eliminated, Adityanath added.
