Northern Colorado women’s basketball player Hannah Simental is transferring to Colorado State.
The Bears senior guard, who announced her intention to transfer last month, announced the move Tuesday on social media.
“Looks like I’m staying home,” said Simental, who is from Pueblo, in a post on X — formerly known as Twitter.
Simental wore a green No. 32 CSU uniform in the photos that also included her parents. Her father, David, has coached Hannah for most of her life in basketball, she said this year.
Simental, who wore No. 10 at UNC, scored 1,450 points in four seasons at UNC (2020-24) while averaging 12.6 points and shooting 40.1% from 3-point range. She started 113 of 115 career games and averaged 32.6 minutes per game. Simental was also a career 88% free throw shooter for the Bears.
She will graduate from UNC with a bachelor’s degree next month.
“Thank you to the coaching staff at CSU,” Simental also wrote in the post. “Excited to be apart of the RAMILY!”
Simental said last month she entered her name in the portal because she’d like to play in a higher level conference if possible for her fifth year.
“Of course, I’d love to play at a Power 5 (team),” she said of a transfer location. “I’m not sure if I’ll get the opportunity. I’m seeing what God brings to the table.”

Colorado State is a member of the Mountain West Conference, which is not considered a Power 5 conference. Northern Colorado plays in the Big Sky Conference.
CSU finished 2023-24 10-8 in the Mountain West and 20-11 overall. The Rams, seeded fifth for the conference tournament last month, beat No. 4 Nevada in a quarterfinal before losing to No. 1 UNLV in a semifinal.
UNLV, the Mountain West Conference Tournament champion, received a 10 seed for the women’s NCAA Tournament. Eastern Washington, the Big Sky Tournament champ, was a 14 seed for the NCAA Tournament.
