C. Louise Johnson, West Fargo, ND, died January 29, 2023 at Eventide Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo, North Dakota.

Catherine Louise Ouradnik was born September 25, 1925 to Charles and Bertha (Davy) Ouradnik at Devils Lake, ND. Louise graduated from high school in Casselton, ND. She then received her BA in 1946 from Jamestown College. In 1972 she received her master’s degree from North Dakota State University.

Louise taught school for three years in Oregon prior to marriage in 1949 to Roy H. Johnson. After they were married, they moved to Webster, South Dakota. They moved from South Dakota to Carrington, North Dakota and then to West Fargo, where she was an English instructor at the West Fargo Middle School for twenty years before retiring in 1988. They were truly in love all 62 years of marriage.

Louise was President of the West Fargo Education Association, Elder of the Community Presbyterian Church in West Fargo where she was also a choir member. Louise was a member of PEO Chapter AE, President of NDSU Women’s Club and also of Fortnightly Study Club. She is survived by her three children; one daughter, Nancy (Neil) Jordheim, Fargo, ND; Roy F. (Colleen), Lake Zurich, Illinois; and Charles H., Aurora, Colorado; 4 grandsons - Brent, Roy C., Erik, Adam, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, and a daughter, Rebecca Louise. All her Ouradnik siblings and spouses as well as her husband, Roy’s, siblings and spouses preceded her passing. They were Howard (Ouradnik) & Adelle Davy, Francis (Ouradnik) & James Erickson, Lorren & Elouise Ouradnik, Henry & Dorothy Ouradnik and son, Jim O’radnik, Donald & Kay Ouradnik, Ethel (Ouradnik) & Bill Eastgate, Robert Ouradnik, Betty (Ouradnik) & James Bischke, Frank & Mary Johnson, Harry & Mary Johnson, Ralph & Alice Johnson and daughter, Lisa, Margaret (Johnson) & Peter Wasche.

Louise and Roy enjoyed traveling together and were great supporters of the NDSU Bison. She loved to play bridge and host her friends either at her home or another location that was interesting or fun. She loved to make pies and cookies that were specifically requested by the youngest at the table. Her joy was reflected in the friends and the family that she cherished. Few could hug you more fiercely or with such abandon.

The staff at Sheyenne Crossing, Eventide, provided love and respectful care that enhanced the last years of her life. So too was the special addition of those from Hospice of the Red River Valley. We carry them in our hearts as extended members of our family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to a special charity of your choice, the Roy and Louise Scholarship Fund at the NDSU, West Fargo Community Presbyterian Church, or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at the West Fargo Community Presbyterian Church at 1 PM on Sunday, June 18, 2023, followed by the service at 2 PM.  Internment will be at the Casselton Cemetery in Casselton, North Dakota.
