Sangvi, 6th April 2023: Road work is underway on behalf of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) between Sangvi Phata and Bank of Maharashtra Chowk. However, due to the lack of adequate safety equipment at the worksite, motorists and bikers are advised to exercise caution while travelling to Sangvi Phata.

The contractor responsible for the road work has failed to install adequate barricades, which has resulted in an increased risk of accidents due to vehicles slipping.

The work on this road has been progressing slowly, and it is imperative that the municipal corporation installs barricades for safety. However, this has been ignored, and due to digging on one side of the road, accidents can occur due to vehicles or two-wheelers slipping.

The work on this road has been progressing unsafely for the past several months, causing inconvenience to drivers who are already facing slow work. The road from Sangvi Phata to Bank of Maharashtra Chowk has been dug up for the past several months without following a phased approach. As the said road is already narrow, it cannot be widened due to military land on the side. The digging of the road has resulted in potholes on the sides, causing further traffic slowdowns.

In addition, the delay in this work has caused immense hardship to citizens, with hundreds of students using this route every day. Vehicles travelling from Wakad use this route to go to Pimple Gurav, Sangvi, and Dapodi, while vehicles from Pimple Gurav, New Sangvi, and Dapodi use it to travel to Aundh, Pimple Nilakh, and Wakad. As many IT company workers reside in this area, stalled work on this route is causing them significant inconvenience. The lack of safety barricades on this road poses a risk of accidents, and citizens have demanded that barricades be placed on this road where necessary.
