In this week’s podcast, the TWiCE team talk to Rob Anderson, former FT correspondent in Prague, about what Petr Pavel’s first week as the Czech president-elect can tell us about what kind of president he will be when he takes office in March.

In other news, Pavel’s close political ally in the region, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova, has been mentioned this week as a possible candidate to become the next secretary-general of NATO; Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban received a group of Western conservative journalists for a closed-door meeting, but things went awry and the government ended up having to do some damage control; and the number of births registered last year in Poland was the lowest recorded since World War II.
