"Change is inevitable, and I want to tell those against it that they must be willing to see these changes, no turning back," Sakaja said.

The first-time governor laughed off claims by his political nemeses that he found Nairobi in place and should leave it as is.

The governor noted things have changed and the Kenyan capital must be upgraded to a world class city.

"Yes it's true I was born in this city, and that's why am the governor, and we can't leave with old ways of doing things, we must fix this city," Sakaja added.

His firm stance on the matter came barely days after a section of Mount Kenya leaders threatened to initiate the impeachment motion against him.

Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga was recently recorded lecturing Sakaja over perceived disrespect to Gachagua.

"Rigathi helped you become governor. Tutaonana na wewe mwanaume kwa mwanaume (We shall meet man to man). Kikuyus will not be threatened. Rigathi should be respected," Wamatinga said on Thursday, December 29, 2022," he said.

However, Sakaja has maintained that he has no problem with the deputy president despite reading from different scripts on the matatu issue.

"As Kenya Kwanza we are united and we are moving together as a team. I don't have time for sideshows. I do clean politics' said Sakaja.

Gachagua criticised the Nairobi governor's notice to move all PSVs plying Rift Valley and Western routes from CBD to Green Park.

The DP said he mobilised Kikiyus to vote for Sakaja and hence the governor should go slow on destroying their businesses.
