Ronan Keating couldn’t resist making a cheeky dig about Matt Hancock appearing on another reality show during Thursday’s episode of The One Show.
The former health secretary came third on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! earlier this week, making it to the final despite a lot of controversy about his stint on the show.
Despite Jill Scott being crowned Queen of the Jungle, Hancock earned a reported £400,000 for his time on the ITV reality series, and is now taking part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, where he was paid £45,000.
Speaking about who may be announced as the next celebrity taking part in Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas special, before it was revealed to be EastEnders and Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb, Ronan took a cheek swipe at Hancock.
The Boyzone singer and The One Show co-host Alex Jones were reading out viewers’ (incorrect) guesses at who the celebrity could be, when Ronan said: ‘Matt Hancock, it’s not you.’
Alex threw her head back and laughed in response, commenting: ‘Brilliant!’
This comes after it was announced I’m A Celebrity sparked a total of 3,727 Ofcom complaints, with many revolving around Hancock’s appearance on the show.
Hancock arrived in the jungle as a latecomer, alongside Seann Walsh, and was voted in to do his first six bushtucker trials in a row.
From inside the camp, he faced grillings from the likes of Charlene White and Boy George, who challenged the politician about his motives for signing up to the series.
Earlier this month, Ofcom confirmed that 1,100 objected to Hancock’s presence in the camp, and ahead of the final week, figures showed that complaints soared to 3,287, with a total of 1,764 aimed at Hancock.

After Hancock left the camp to chat to Ant and Dec, they asked him directly why he decided to take part in the ITV programme.
Reiterating what he’d said in the jungle about wanting to seem ‘human’ as a politician, he responded: ‘Well I just wanted – well I said this in there. But I just wanted to show what I’m just like as a person.
‘Lots of people come to me with preconceived ideas for obvious reasons and I just wanted to be myself. But I also actually strongly believe that for politicians as a whole.
‘We don’t come across as human enough and this is probably the most extreme way of just showing who you are. I’m the guy who throws myself into things.’
