Peru's Ministry of Production (Produce) has authorized a 2.283 million metric ton anchovy quota for the second season of 2022 in north central waters.
The quota is an 11.5 percent increase over the same season last year.
Marine scientists spent time at sea gauging stock levels before delivering their assessment to government officials.
Before the season gets underway, scientists will spend another five days monitoring biomass, including numbers of juvenile fish, before making recommendations on protective measures.
As in previous years, the second season will likely spill over into January.
