ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s young soccer stars took home hardware from the recent Atlantic Canadian championships.

The provincial boys' under-15 and under-16 soccer teams captured gold Sunday at the Atlantic championships in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, while the under-15 girls' team took home bronze.

The boys' under-15 team swept the tournament with four straight wins, including a nail-biter in the final versus New Brunswick that went to penalty kicks.

The under-16 team went undefeated with three wins and a tie in the tournament.

In the final match against P.E.I., Paris Kahunga netted the team’s lone goal early in the game.

The team protected the lead and registered a 1-0 win.

Keeper Daniel Martin recorded his third tournament shutout, including one shared with fellow keeper Sebastian Locke. The team allowed only two goals during the competition.

The N.L. under-15 girls team captured the bronze medal in a hard-fought 3-2 win over Nova Scotia.
