SISSETON, South Dakota — A 33-year-old Sisseton man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for choking and punching his former domestic partner in May 2021.

Christopher J. Keeble was convicted of going to his former partner's home, asking her to come outside and then assaulting her by choking her to a point of nearly losing consciousness and punching her in the face, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

He violated a tribal court order of protection involving the same victim, who sustained bodily injuries in the assault.

Keeble was sentenced earlier this week by U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann in Aberdeen. He was immediately taken into custody.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Sioux Tribe's law officers.
