Woodland Park School District to Review Summit Learning/REAL Platform

District Hires Consulting Firm to Review Educational Tool
As announced this Fall, in pursuit of continued improvement, Woodland Park School District will be engaging in a comprehensive external review of our practice at the middle and high school level, with specific focus on the Summit Learning/REAL Platform, according to District officials.
“The Woodland Park School District community will have an opportunity to engage with the team for this review”, said Dr. Mathew Neal, WPSD Superintendent.

• Who are the external reviewers?
o Consulting Firm: School Leaders to the Core – Strategic Leadership for Learning and
Leading

o 3 External Consultants: Jennifer Klein, Barbara Friedlander, and Heather Wayson-
Wilson (Bios found on the wpsdk12.org website)

• What will they look at?
o 3 Day Comprehensive Site Visit, including Classroom Observations; Focus Groups and
Interviews of Staff, Students, Parents, and Community Members; and Engagement in
the School and Community Culture
o General Survey of Staff, Students, Parents, and Community Members
o Review of School Policies & Procedures, School Data, Implementation Documents,
Teacher Training, and Survey Results

o November 1st – 3rd

o Strengths and opportunities for growth posted to the District website by January

o Strengths and opportunities for growth shared with the School Board, Leadership
Team, District and School Accountability Committees, and School Shared Decision
Teams to be used in future planning
§ Noted strengths will be preserved in future initiatives
§ Opportunities for growth will provide a platform for planning this Spring, with
initiatives rolled out in the Fall of 2022
