Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulatory messages to the leaders and citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia, as well as the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, according to the Kremlin press service.

"Together we shall resolutely resist any attempt to distort and falsify history, to reconsider the results of the Great Patriotic War, to justify the heinous atrocities committed by the Nazis and their henchmen," Putin said, in particular in his message.

Also, the Russian President expressed confidence that the traditions of brotherly friendship and mutual assistance have been and remain an unshakable basis for the construction and development of constructive and good-neighborly relations between these countries and peoples.
